I started ballet when I was two years old, and it has been the foundation of my dance journey. Through ballet, I learned grace, discipline, and how to carry myself with poise. The structured nature of the movements, like pliés and pirouettes, taught me precision and body awareness. Ballet also introduced me to storytelling through dance, using subtle expressions and controlled movements to convey emotion.

Bharathanatyam
Bharatanatyam connected me to Indian culture and taught me how dance can express complex emotions, stories, and devotion. The intricate hand gestures (mudras) and rhythmic footwork made me appreciate the balance between precision and fluidity. Performing Bharatanatyam has been deeply meaningful, as it involves not only physical movements but also an emotional connection to mythology and tradition.
El Baile Folklorico
El Baile Folklórico gave me insight into the vibrant culture of Mexico through dance. The lively movements, colorful costumes, and traditional music made performing an exciting experience. I enjoyed the energy that comes from the swirling skirts and stomping footwork, as well as the community aspect of Folklórico, which celebrates the history and diversity of different regions in Mexico.

Bollywood Dancing
Bollywood dance has been one of the most playful and energetic styles I’ve learned. It blends classical Indian dance with modern influences, creating a dynamic style that is both expressive and fun. I love the freedom of Bollywood choreography, which allows for both storytelling and improvisation. It also encourages group performances, making it a joyful way to connect with others.
Chinese fan and ribbon dancing taught me how to use props to create movement in new ways. The elegant swirls of the ribbon and the crisp flicks of the fan add layers to the dance, making it visually captivating. These styles emphasize smooth, continuous motions, which challenged me to improve my coordination and flow. I appreciated how the dances are both graceful and symbolic, reflecting Chinese traditions.
